This publication follows the “Veggenti. Nuove ricerche visive sul paesaggio italiano (New Visual Research on Italian Landscape)” exhibition presented at the Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea from 14 December 2024 to 30 March 2025. The works in the catalogue were acquired by Mufoco in December 2023 thanks to the Open Call L'Italia è un desiderio (Italy is a Desire) promoted by the Directorate-General for Contemporary Creativity of the Italian Ministry of Culture and the Museo di Fotografia Contemporanea with the institutional collaboration of the Fondazione Alinari per la Fotografia and Scuderie del Quirinale.

The work materials (images, notes, documents, reflections) published in the second part of the catalogue were made available by the artists with a view to sharing their research processes and enabling a greater understanding of the projects.

“The expansion of photography—perhaps better termed as extension, a concept also with geographic and spatial connotations—proves capable of accommodating new and diverse forms of representation. It revitalizes and redefines, often from alternative perspectives, the idea of the landscape with a freshness that can be surprising. The heterogeneous visions and techniques presented in the exhibition explore the entire national territory, creating a multifaceted fresco that, through the categories of art—those of aesthetics, symbols, and metaphors—maintains the capacity to influence the collective imagination.
