To Be or To Become

To Be or To Become, Kristina Shakht’s debut self-published zine, blends intimate portraits of women with floral photography, captured during the COVID-19 lockdowns of 2020 and 2021. These images were taken using Polaroid 600, 35mm film, and an iPhone, alongside Kristina's friends. The zine is a collaboration with friend and co-editor Liliya Shapran, as well as artist Bren Cukier, who designed the free-flowing typography on the cover. To Be or To Become delves into themes of intimacy and darkness, where Kristina's subjects are immersed in a dreamlike, almost otherworldly atmosphere
